Happy April......Spring...Autumn!

Happy April everyone and it's now officially Autumn in Aussie land, yay!

The clock has been changed to winter time this weekend!

We had an amazing hot hot weather for so many months, so I am looking forward to more cooler weather here in Melbourne :)

I do hope that all my friends in the UK get a really great Summer this year!

I have been reading in a number of blogs about chicken adobo and I have never tried this before.

I have found this great recipe and it was so good, maybe you would like to try it!

I have also given my own spin in the recipe and added 3 to 4 boiled eggs together with the chicken.... it was really yummy.

Last weekend was my husband's birthday and we were really looking forward to this restaurant, Greek restaurant Hellenic Republic in the Lygon street owned by Master chef George Calombaris.

We managed to get a booking in the afternoon. They do booked out so quickly!

It was so good and I can tell you that we have finished everything........

Unfortunately I was too busy stuffing myself and have not much time to take pictures and you can see on this blog what we have been eating :)

My new home part 2...

I love my new home........ it took us over a year to feel more and more at home here in Australia. 

Melbourne has so so many hidden shops, lots and lots of beautiful shops. 

I have not taken much furniture from the UK, some of them are really old and not worth it to pay for the shipping, so we had to leave it behind.

We have been searching for all these furniture here in Melbourne and found really great second hand shops that sell lots of mid century stuff.

I love my Japanese little tree, actually this is a pomegranate little tree :) 

My decorating style is what I feel comfortable with, I like mix decorating, Asian/modern and Ikea :)

I used to have a Pastoe big wall unit living in Amsterdam, that I still miss and Jan des Bouvries sofas. 

I love their style but had to leave it in Holland when moving to Sydney a couple of years ago. They are now living with friends and family!

This small vintage kidney shape table I have purchased in the UK.

A beautiful red mid century plate that has been given to me from a friend in the UK.

I have Asian parents and they told me to put red things in the house, red  brings luck in the home.

The candle holder is purchased from Vincent shop here in Melbourne.

New home part 1

I have moved into my new Australian home officially on Sunday.

It was another stressful move....... this time on the other side of the city, not another part of the world :)
Goodbye unit.....hello new home!

I love my new home but still lots to do, organise, unpack!

Work/deadlines are keeping me busy so I will try and see if I can take some snaps of my new home. 

Here is my latest purchase, a beautiful 60's table that I have been waiting for a long time purchased in a secondhand shop here in Melbourne. 

The orange chair is another 60's find from a Scandinavian shop in Melbourne, my husband bought the 

chair for me. It is still in its original orange colour fabric, it's a Fritz Hansen chair

Happy Chinese New Year!

Happy Chinese Year, Year of the snake!

We have spent the whole day in Melbourne China town to celebrate the Chinese New Year on Sunday.

I have really enjoyed it so much and as I am a half Chinese/Dutch girl and love my food, I like to share with you one of the best dumpling place in Melbourne....

I love this place, everything was freshly made!

Here is one of my own version  favourite dishes that is so easy to make and very healthy..... it is Vietnamese and is called  Goi Ga (not sure it is spelled right)  or Vietnamese Chicken Salad.

We are so lucky and spoiled of the great food here in Melbourne and I don't have to go to London every month to get my Asian food fix :)
